Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on the relationship between the body’s structure—mainly the spine—and its functioning.
At Active Life Chiropractic, Dr. Mason uses a variety of assessments to determine if a patient’s spinal structure is a problem that can be helped with chiropractic adjustments. Neurological (such as computerized nerve scans) and diagnostic tests (x-ray), are performed onsite and are a great indicator for diagnosis and recommendations. The first visit typically lasts 30-45 minutes.
Before any treatment is provided, Dr. Mason discusses the findings (diagnosis), recommendations (what style of chiropractic adjustment) and outcomes (Time-frame for relief and goals) for each patient. Insurance and payment options are verified before treatment begins.
Chiropractic Adjustments (manipulations) are designed to restore function to the spine, alleviate pain and support the body’s ability to heal itself. You may be asked to lie on a special table, where Dr. Mason does the spinal adjustments. (similar to a massage table) Adjustments are customized for each patient depending on age and exam findings. Some adjustments require an instrument while others are performed by hand (manual adjustments). It is not common to feel pain during adjustments, and most patients feel an increase in energy immediately. 10-15% of patients experience muscle soreness comparable to an exercise workout due to changes in the spines musculature.
